YES Internships are designed to combine the benefits of study programs, traditional internships, and international experiences in a single program. Students spend the first week of the program in an orientation which includes a language course, resume and interview preparation, interviews, and work placement. Participants are matched with companies based on experience, preference, and level of Spanish. There are educational excursions and visits in and around the city, and students can be matched with local intercambios to maximize immersion. Participants benefit from the continued support of YES staff, who maintain communication with company supervisors to ensure successful internship experiences.

Placements are made based on experience, level of Spanish and stuent preference. The higher the participants´ level of Spanish and experience in a given field, the more likely it is s/he can be placed in a preferred sector.
Throughout the duration of the program, students stay primarily in Seville and participate in the local culture on a daily basis. This provides for a genuine international experience and accelerated and effective language learning.

Developing and using your new language skills in an everyday work setting will allow you to advance them to the next level.
Multicultural communication
Interning abroad will allow you to not only interact with people from a different culture, but to work with them. Work environments are always complex and require effective communication. This is especially true in an international and mutlicultural work environment. Learning about and experiencing Spanish work culture will help you to better understand American work culture.
Building your resume
Any experience abroad will enhance your resume, but gaining international work experience adds something extra. In a foreign environment, you will need to adapt and be flexible in order to work effectively with others. Flexibility and adaptability are vital skills to have in today´s fast-paced world of work and are universally valued by employers.

Transportation for most excursions is included in the program cost. Optional Excursions will be paid for separately.
Seville is a city best explored by foot or on bicycle. A map of the city and instructions on how to use public bicycles are included in the Welcome Pack.

Orientation: During the first week, students prepare for the internship experience with an intensive Spanish course. Orientation also includes an introduction to Spanish work culture, resume preparation and company interviews. Participants are matched with a company in the first week and will meet with their supervisors together with YES staff to review schedule, position description, and expectations.
Internship hours: Participants spend 25-30 hours a week in their internship placement.
Continued Support: YES staff maintains communication with program participants and company supervisors to effectively manage successful internship experiences.
